Akiyama & Kirilov Dance Projects is a young company created by two veteran dancers, the Japanese Tamako Akiyama and the French of Bulgarian origin Dimo Kirilov, to carry out their independent creations after long years of successful professional career as main dancers of several relevant international ballet companies Including the National Dance Company of Spain (CND) – since 2000 under the direction of Nacho Duato until 2014 under José Carlos Martínez – where both have developed most of their professional career.
In Akiyama & Dirilov Dance Projects Tamako and Dimo turn their creative drive and interpretive talent and give vent to their desire to explore to develop a personal language that incorporates and transcends everything they have done so far.
With just five years of existence as an independent company have already received several awards, including the 1st prize of the Choreography Competition Burgos-New York in 2013 with the piece “Aimless”
In 2014 and 2015 they participated in two consecutive editions of the “Festival Internacional Madrid en Danza” with the piece “Entre Mareas”.
In 2016 Dimo Kirilov created the piece “Anhelos y Tormentos” for the National Dance Company of Spain (CND), based on music by Enrique Granados with Tamako Akiyama as the first guest dancer.
In February 2017, Akiyama & Kililov Dance Projects premiered the piece “Broken Lines” at the Carlos III Royal Coliseum in San Lorenzo de El Escorial (Madrid, Spain) in which the couple of emerging dancers Carmen Fumero and Miguel Ballabriga collaborated on the stage.
